Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henrique and Erminia (Pacheco) Vicente, he lived in Acushnet for over 40 years before moving back to New Bedford.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1954 and served in the Naval Reserves.
Mr. Vicente had worked at Polaroid Corp. until his retirement, and previously worked at Continental Screw.
Luiz and his wife enjoyed traveling and socializing at St. Theresa’s Senior Club in Acushnet. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Sheryl Fredette and husband David of New Bedford and Lynn Vicente of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Erica Fredette and her significant other, Patrick, Brian Fredette and wife Niki, Tricia Tweedie and husband John and Nicholas Pleiss and wife Kayla; and four great- grandchildren, Julian Willis, Savannah Willis, Henry Fredette and Spencer Chandler. He was predeceased by his sister Eileen Cabral.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
