Born in Dartmouth, Son of the late Louis I. and Mary J. Costa, he was a lifelong area resident. Known as the Greatest Truck Driver to ever criss-cross these United States, he will be painfully missed. Louie was a proud Marine who served
with bravery and gallantry at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill during the Korean War and was awarded 3 Purple Hearts. He was also the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Ribbon.
After his military service he started his career as a long haul truck driver. Known as “Fifth Wheel” he was a welcome sight to many a driver over the road. The millions of miles he had under his belt can only be described as colorful and storied. He won numerous awards for safe driving and company gratitude.
Surviving in addition to his wife Elaine: 3 daughters: Lyn Benoit and husband Michael of Acushnet, Laurie Brule and husband Russell of Lakeville, Lisa Sousa of New Bedford. Son: Gary Jezierski and wife Charlene of Mattapoisett. Brothers: Raymond, Hank, and the late Adolph and twin Manuel. Sisters: Anna, Delores, Babes, and the late Irene. 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was also father of: Raymond, Louie, Bobby, Gary and Lori.
