

Laura M. Rosa, aged 74, passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2025. Born on August 9, 1950, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Leo E. Cormier Sr. and Hilda M. (Stephens) Cormier. Laura grew up in Acushnet and had been a resident of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, since 1999.
Laura graduated from St. Luke's Hospital Nursing program and earned an Associate's degree in Nursing from Bristol Community College. She dedicated much of her career to serving as a licensed practical nurse at St. Luke's Hospital and later worked at the Bristol County House of Correction.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Manuel Rosa, and her three daughters: Karen Marie Araujo, whose companion Karl Beaudoin predeceased her; Jennifer Lynn Araujo and her significant other Joseph Burnell and Linda May Cassimatis and her husband Dean; and Laura's siblings include Janice Selley, Patricia Szyndlar, David Cormier, Michelle Cordeiro, and Christine Conway. She was predeceased by her siblings Judith Almeida, Elizabeth Cormier, and Leo E. Cormier Jr.
Laura was a loving grandmother to Chad Martin, Brooke Araujo, Haleigh Nogueira, Gabriella Cassimatis, and Annabelle Cassimatis, and a great-grandmother to Myles Martin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A devoted caregiver throughout her life, Laura was known for her strong will and determination. She had a passion for arts and crafts, often knitting sweaters, blankets, and afghans for her family. Laura enjoyed cooking and baking, cherished car rides by the beach, and maintained an immaculately clean home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, daughters and grandkids.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 9:00am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St, Acushnet.
