Kim (Carter) Arruda, age 58 of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, June 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Louis Arruda. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Dorothy Bandarra of New Bedford and the late Robert Carter and stepdaughter of Mary Jane Carter of Florida.
Kim graduated from Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School Class of 1982 where she studied Health Care as a CNA and continued working in her profession until her retirement in 2020.
Kim was very caring and giving and the simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy. She always kept her family and friends laughing and having a good time with her silliness. She looked for ways to make family time more memorable and fun with her creativity by always investing her heart and soul into so many special Birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas gifts and designing Halloween costumes for her mom year after year that won first prize. She created all of these treasured memories for her family that are more valuable than she ever realized. Kim spent time growing up around her late maternal grandmother Eileen Perry whom she adored and always held close to her heart.
She will be deeply missed by so many. She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Arruda and Jessica Arruda both of New Bedford; her grandchildren Jeremiah Arruda, Skylah and Noah DeBarcelos; her sisters Kris Cambra and husband Bill of Dartmouth, Bethanie Carter of Florida; stepsisters Leslie Moreira and Renee Raposo both of Florida; and many nieces and nephews; Billy Cambra, Kevin Cambra, Brittani Newport, Justin Gager, Olivia Simon, & Quintin Raposo. Besides all the special memories she made and shared with each of her family members and dearest of friends, Kim also had many memories of her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and especially for her Godfather/Uncle, Bobby Perry.
Private arrangements are in the care of the ROCK FUNERAL HOME.
