

Joyce A. Vieira, 63 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in her residence on Sunday, March 17, 2024 with her loving family and best friends at her bedside after a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of Linda M. (Romanski) Vieira, to whom they shared 18 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Luiz Vieira, Eracema and Walter Souza. Joyce was a longtime resident of Dartmouth. She was a graduate of Sheridan High School and received her associate degree from Colorado Northwestern Community College. Joyce was employed as a Materials Associate for Comcast for 23 years prior to her retirement.
Joyce was born in New Bedford but spent her childhood growing up in Colorado with her family. She has always enjoyed sports and was the first female baseball player for Sheridan High School. She received a sports scholarship to CNCC where she continued her softball journey. She returned to MA in her early 20’s where she played softball with local teams and met her best friends Heidi and Kris. In her 30’s she met her lifelong partner Linda and raised their family together. Her best years started when her grandchildren were born. She was fortunate enough to share her passions for camping, sports, animals, and travel with all those she loved.
In addition to her loving wife Linda, she is survived by her children, Kelly Tavares and her husband Steve of Westport MA, Michael Cotter and his wife Sarah of Freetown MA; her grandchildren, Noah, Hailey, Hannah and Nolan; her siblings, Craig and Walter Souza, Joanne Prach, June Anthony, Jackie Archer, Cema Souza of Colorado, Laurie Cove and Annmarie Demello of Massachusetts; her best friends, Heidi West of Westport MA and Kris Carreiro of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dominic Souza.
