John Phillip Mello

Born and raised in Freetown, he graduated from Apponequet High School in 2009. John was the oldest son of John F. Mello of Freetown and Janice M. (Senuick) Mello of Dartmouth.

John was the Vice President of JM Equipment Company of Freetown. He was extremely passionate about family, friends and his family owned business.

Known for his smile and amazing storytelling abilities, John was proud of his home on Long Pond that he shared with his fiancée, Elyse Ferreira, and dog, Jake. He loved being on his boats “on the pond” and in the ocean, riding his motorcycles, and “heading up north” with friends to ride side by sides.

In addition to his parents and fiancée, he is survived by his sister, Katlyn (Mello) Hogan and her husband Glen of Freetown; his brother, Christopher M. Mello of Lakeville; Aunty and Uncle Ken of Somerset; Aunt Mary of New Bedford; and his niece and special goddaughter, Kendyl Salvail. He is also survived by his father’s partner, Leah Santucci and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 9AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by his Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., East Freetown. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to your favorite charity. Burial private.
