Joan Louise (Robinson) White, age 86, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald “Don” Walter White with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Oman) Robinson. Joan was a graduate of New Bedford High School and attended Kinyon – Campbell Business School.
In the early years of her marriage Joan focused on helping her husband create their business D.W. White Construction. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. An Avid golfer she was a member of the New Bedford Country Club. She enjoyed boating, traveling with her husband on their boat to Florida on many occasions and accompanying him on hunting trips and out for walks with the dogs.
She will be remembered most for her patience and always being a good sport.
Survivors include three daughters: Donna Courtemanche and her husband David of Mattapoisett, Lynne Viens and her husband John of Acushnet, Gayla White and her partner Roger Duarte of Berkley, one son: Gary White and his wife Jocelyn of Mattapoisett, eight grandchildren: Rebecca Dube, Ross Acucena, Justin Stark, William White, Neil Stark, Kurt Acucena, Ashley Fullen and Luke Edward, eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her Visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford from 9-10:30am followed by a memorial service at 10:30am. Burial will be private.
