Jeannette B. Picard

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late William J. and Exilie (St. Aubin) Legere, she was a lifelong resident of the southcoast. Jeannette was a graduate of St. Anthony High School and employed as a secretary at the Acushnet Company for 40 years, retiring in 1993.

Jeannette loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, going for walks, traveling, especially cruises, reading and later the use of audio books. She made her own clothing and was always dressed impeccably.

Jeannette is survived by a daughter, Charlotte A. Weir and her husband Dennis of FL; 2 sisters, Simone Brunette and Doris Boswell both of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Jennifer Patterson and her husband Jason of FL and Brian McCarthy and his wife Alicia of GA; her great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Joshua Patterson of FL and Taylor Johnson and Maddisyn McCarthy of GA; her stepchildren Gerard and Paul Rousseau, Janice Robert and Lynne Caron all of MA; 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Theo and Wilfred Legere, Alice Cormier and Rita Ellis.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:00AM in St. Anthony’s Church, 22 Barstow Street, Mattapoisett. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
