Jean Theresa Menard

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Noella Blain and beloved step-daughter of the late Beatrice Blain. A graduate of New Bedford High School, she worked at and retired from Acushnet Company. Jean and her sister Rita loved to sing together and were known as the Blain Sisters.

Jean loved playing bingo and was an avid reader, she had many friends she loved from Melville Towers where she resided for over twenty years. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jean's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at St. Lukes Hospital especially the nurses in the Crapo Unit. They were all amazing and treated us with such kindness and treated our mom with dignity.

Survivors include 7 children: Steven P. Menard and his wife Deborah of Dartmouth, Kerry Shepard and her husband Lewis of New Bedford, Rick Menard and his wife Kathy of New Bedford, Donald Menard and his wife Tammy of New Bedford, Jennifer Borges, Alan Menard and his wife Sandy of Ohio and Karyn Clements of New Bedford, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a sister Rita Dupuis and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Lawrence Church, 565 County Street, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford. www.rock-funeralhome.com.
