Born in New Bedford on February 24, 1958, James was the beloved son of the late Franklin Dean Sr. and Mildred (Lemos) Dean. He was raised in Acushnet and was a proud graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School.
James was a devoted husband to Maria Fatima Dean, with whom he shared 32 loving years. He was also a cherished stepfather, step-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James worked for many years as a machine operator at Titleist, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with family, watching classic cowboy movies, listening to country music, cheering on the Red Sox, and casting a line whenever he had the chance. He had a special love for traveling, especially to Disney and Portugal.
He is survived by his wife Maria, his stepchildren and step-grandchildren, his brothers, a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward with love.
Visitation will be held at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in Acushnet Cemetery, 91 Main Street, Acushnet.
