He was the beloved son of the late Jack and Agnes (Medeiros) Sylvia, and brother of the late Cheryl (Sylvia) Souza. Jack graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1964 and lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was a very talented trumpet player in the Air Force Jazz Band and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Business degree.
Jack is survived by his daughter Nicole LaPlante of North Dartmouth, MA, her husband Derek and their three children, Kay, Gracie, and Reed; his daughter Trisha Dennery, of Center Conway, NH, her husband Morice, and four children, Darrian, Devan, Jaeden, and Ava; his sister Kristine (Sylvia) Hebert of South Carolina, and her husband Bill; and a special friend Betty.
