Jacinto de Andrade, 89, of New Bedford, after a long fought battle with illness, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of nearly 65 years of Maria Eduarda Andrade and the son of the late Joao S. and Maria Gloria (Arruda) Andrade.
Born in Santo Antonio, Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, he arrived in New Bedford in 1974. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, and formerly employed at Star Plating, New Bedford until his retirement. Mr. Andrade worked hard all his life. He loved his garden, all things nature and wood-crafting. He cherished family above all else and believed in honesty and hard work. He was beloved by his family. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, 2 sons, Carlos & Jesse and their wives Angela and Sonia as well as three daughters, Odilia, Amanda and Maria and their husbands Fernando, Robert and Antonio. He is also survived by four grandsons Colan, Nathan, Benjamin and Cameron and eleven granddaughters, Tiffany, Crystal Lee, Amanda, Gabrielle, Brenda, Rebecca, Alexandra, Samantha, Addianna, Sienna and Sarah, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Alexia, Jayden, Kelsey, Tyler, Ava, Josephina, Annabella and Kayden, as well as a sister, Odilia Pina, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Maria Casimiro, Antonio Andrade, Joao Andrade, Fernando Andrade, Jose Andrade and Francisco Andrade.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 9:00AM from ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA 02746.
