Born in New Bedford, Irene was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Mattos) Ventura, she lived all of her life in New Bedford until recently moving to Lakeville.
Mrs. Oliveira was a homemaker and an assistant at her granddaughter’s day care. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and a wonderful grandmother and aunt. She loved to garden and took great pride in caring for her home. She was known for being very giving of herself.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith L. Travis and her husband Philip of New Bedford and Linda L. Gurney and her husband John of Mattapoisett; 6 grandchildren, Sue-Ann Arsenault, Andrew Rego, Kathleen LeBlanc, Luke Gurney, Mary Sylvia, Joshua Gurney, 13 great-grandchildren, a special God Child, Arlene DePaco and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late David, Joseph, Antone ,John, Merlin and Eddie Ventura, Mary Chaves, Phoebe Chaplin, Georgiana Mendonca , Alice Rego and Evelyn Ventura.
