Irene M. Girouard

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Aldege and Alice (Gamache) Desrosiers, she had been a lifelong area resident and attended New Bedford Vocational High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was a cafeteria worker at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Irene enjoyed playing bingo and believed in the power of prayer.

Irene is survived by two sons, Ronald A. Girouard and his wife Elaine of New Bedford and Marc L. Girouard and his wife Carole of Acushnet; one brother, Albert Desrosiers and his wife Claire of Dartmouth; two sisters, Alice Fiano of Florida and Yvette Cote of Middleboro; 6 grandchildren, Tara, Lauren, Michael, Brandon, John and Jenna; 4 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lily, Grace and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late George, Leo,

Paul, Gerard, Eugene, Aldege, Lucille and Louise Desrosiers.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 8AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford.
