Irene Almeida Andre

Born on October 9, 1918, in New Bedford, MA to the late Joseph and Maria (de Almeida) Duarte, she was the wife of James Manuel Andre to whom she has shared 65 years of marriage.

Irene worked as an assembler at Cornell Dubilier Electronics for 5 years and a packer at Acushnet Company (Titleist) for 13 years. She enjoyed art working as well as coloring, painting, and drawing. She loved kittens and was an active advocate for cats.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, James Manuel Andre, Jr. of Acushnet, her step-son James Michael Andre of CA, and her sister, Fernanda Quinones of Fairhaven. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4 to 7PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Friends and family invited.
