Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Alexander W. and Edmire (Trahan) Desrosiers, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II as a Tech 3 in the 893rd Signal Company Depot Aviation. He was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Desrosiers had worked as a Manager for the St. Anthony and St. Joseph Credit Union until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked as a bookkeeper for Patnaude’s Aquarium.
Henri was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Richelieu Club, the New Bedford American Legion, the Franco Americaine Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Sharpshooters in younger years.
His family includes a son, Paul H. Desrosiers and wife Christine of W. Wareham; a daughter, Irene Sok of Spokane Valley, WA; a brother, Adrien Desrosiers of Florida; a sister, Claire Viens of Fairhaven; 5 grandchildren, Paul H. Desrosiers, Jr., Derek Desrosiers and wife Jessica, Nicole Demoranville and husband Ronald “Buzzy”, John Sok and wife Allison, and Christine Ellis; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Romeo and Emile Desrosiers and Theresa Desroches and father-in-law of the late Jerome Sok.
His burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
