Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Anna and Joseph Macedo, she was a resident of Acushnet for 65 years.
She was employed at a stock and bonds office early on and retired from the Office of Unemployment. Like so many of her generation, she eschewed career in favor of family. Introspective by nature she was naturally quiet, but freely contributed once she got at ease. Maintaining a home was her pride and joy, and everything had a proper place. She loved to read, catching moments here and there, which stood her in good stead when Arthur passed. Her concern for others was always foremost in her mind, . But seeing the great grandchildren never failed to raise a smile; family was always the most important thing.
She is survived by a sister Hilda Brazil, two sons, Steven M. Souza of Brockton and Robert A. Souza of Acushnet; a daughter Sharon M. Josefek; three grandchildren Timothy and Robert Souza, and Dante Josefek; Two great-grandchildren Liam and Nolan Souza; and four nieces, Kathleen Hardy, Karen Thomas, Barbara Johnson and Lisa Raposo.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Parish, Main Street, Acushnet. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Allen Street, New Bedford. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 p.m. in ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford.
