Gisele L. (Breton) Calheta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on April 5, 1941, in Waterloo, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Leopold and Alice (Brunelle) Breton.
Gisele was a resident of New Bedford, where she was known for her hard-working and kind-hearted nature.
In her early life, Gisele was a dedicated teacher's aide for the New Bedford School Department, contributing significantly to adult education at the Mt. Pleasant School. She was a member of the CB Radio Club, where she enjoyed connecting with others.
Gisele was the beloved wife of Arthur Calheta, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Pamela Perry of Yarmouth and Tammie Spicer Pacheco of New Bedford. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Nichole Spicer Abreu and her husband Laurenco, Robert Thomas Perry, III, and Ross Tyler Perry, and her great-grandchildren, Savannah Duarte and Laurenco Abreu.
She is survived by her siblings, Andre Breton and his wife Idamae of Florida, Marie Cardoza and her husband Manuel of Connecticut, Jeannette LaFrance of New Hampshire, and Richard Breton and his wife Teresa of New Bedford. Gisele also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Gisele was actively involved in her community, dedicating over 20 years to the Whaling City Concession Stand and the local little league. Her contributions to these organizations were greatly appreciated and will be fondly remembered.
Her funeral will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:00 am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
