Born in New Bedford, a daughter of Louis and Cydia (Gervais) Levasseur, she was a lifelong area resident.
She attended Holy Family High School, and then furthered her education graduating from the first class at Kinyon Campbell Business School. She worked as the Director of the Langlois School of Music and was an organist for St. Joseph’s and St. Theresa’s Church for many years. A classical pianist, she was a member of the Music Teachers Association and of the Bierstadt Art Society.
Georgette was a talented and creative artist who loved doing crafts, pottery, gold leaf, and rug braiding. She was an accomplished oil painter completing 53 original pieces. She loved being in the company of her family and said her children were her proudest achievement.
She is survived by two sons: Daniel A. Deneault and his wife Donna of Lakeville, and Marc R. Deneault of New Bedford, two grandsons: Christopher and Jonathan Deneault, and a great-grandson due in October, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Juliette Poyant and her late husband Renee, Edgar Levasseur and his late wife Lorraine, and Laurette Plaud and her late husband Camille.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 9:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Joseph’s St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.
