Born in Acushnet, Mr. Lemieux lived in East Freetown for the past 38 years. He was the son of the late George A. Lemieux and Blanche R. (Langlois) Lemieux.
A graduate of St. Anthony High School, George worked as a mechanic at Dartmouth Street Shell and Manny and Bob’s, was the co-owner of JL Home Video and the bar manager at the Washington Club in New Bedford. Over the past 20 years, George and Joanne have opened their hearts and home to care for 40+ foster children. George loved spending time with his family and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his 4 sons; John Lemieux and his wife Ann Marie of Leominster, Demetri Marsden and his wife Etel of Fall River, Dwayne Fluker of East Freetown, Joseph James of New Bedford, 1 sister; Louise Barrett and her husband William Smith of East Freetown, 2 brothers; Robert Lemieux, Roger Lemieux and his wife Jennifer all of East Freetown, 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held at 8am on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA followed by a funeral mass at 9am at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd, East Freetown, MA. Burial at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting Hours Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4-7pm.
