Frank S. Ramos, 89, of New Bedford passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a period of declining health with his family around him. He was the husband of Pauline (Bessette) Ramos and the late Doris (Rogers) Ramos.
Born in Dartmouth, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ferreira) Ramos he was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Frank owned and operated Frank’s Garage located on Orchard Street. He was a hard worker and in his spare time he enjoyed music. He played music on various instruments including the mandolin. Frank also loved to play cards, shuffle board, and dance. He was a member and officer of the Moose Lodge of New Bedford, Washington Club, and the Portuguese-American Club of Dartmouth. Frank and Pauline also enjoyed going to the Dartmouth Council on Aging.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donna Gonnelli of Lady Lake, FL, David Ramos and his wife Debra of Mattapoisett, Frank Ramos and his wife Cheryl of Acushnet, and Gale Williams and her life partner George Barlow of Fairhaven; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Russell Bessette and his wife Claire of Mattapoisett and Normand Bessette and his wife Jessica of CA; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial mass will be Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
