Fernando do Couto

Born in Beira Alta Portugal, the youngest of six children to the late Jose do Couto and Maximina Guiomar. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Mr. do Couto worked in road construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards at the Portuguese American Club and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Elizabeth Pereira of West Wareham, Jose Couto of New Bedford, Robert do Couto of Acushnet, and Edward do Couto of Mattapoisett; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
