Estella Souza

A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Estella was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Costa) Medeiros.

Mrs. Souza was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1945. She worked as a clerk for Paul & Dixon Insurance Company until her retirement at 80 years old. She cherished the time that was spent with her family and grandchildren. They were the joys of her life.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Jane M. Tiedemann of New Bedford, Patrice Washburn and her husband Peter E. Washburn of New Bedford; 1 son, John J. Souza of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Patrice L. Tiedemann and her husband Michael Grant, Peter J. Washburn and his wife Katie Lyn, Jeffrey and Daniel Washburn, Andrew John Souza, Christopher D. Souza, 1 great-grandson, Dylan John Grant, and a sister-in-law, Eileen Medeiros of New Bedford. She was the sister of the late John, Tony, Joseph and Domingo Medeiros and the sister of the late Mary Couto and Anna Albino.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 8am at the Rock Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass celebrated at 9am at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth, MA. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5-8pm. Burial at St. Johns Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA.
