Elizabeth Monahan

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of Karen (Seney) Monahan and James Monahan and his wife Loretta , she was a lifelong area resident.

Lizzie was a graduate of the West Bridgewater High School, class of 2011.

Lizzie was both witty and a deep thinker and could express her thoughts cleverly in her writing. She enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and baseball. She was a compassionate friend who could easily empathize with people who shared a similar struggle as hers.

Her time with us was much too short, but we will treasure that time for the rest of our lives.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother: Daniel Perry of Acushnet, two sisters: Melissa Amaral and her husband Jason of Pembroke and Julianne Monahan of East Freetown, her “Bestemor” Carolyn Monahan of Clinton, CT, two nieces, one nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., East Freetown. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4PM to 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the College Fund for Johari Waldron, c/o Bristol County Savings Bank, 1 Chace Rd., E. Freetown, MA 02717 or to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, P.O. Box 62596, Baltimore, MD 21264. Burial private.
