Edward L. Smith Jr.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edward and Esther Smith, he had resided in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet nine years ago. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Mr. Smith was a United States Navy Veteran attaining the rank of Hospital Apprentice, First Class.

He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a report writer until his retirement.

Edward enjoyed traveling, dining out, listening to music and knitting in earlier years. Most of all, he cherished the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His family includes a step-daughter, Claudia A. Medeiros and her husband Michael of Acushnet; two grandchildren, Jennifer MacCord and her husband Richard and Joshua Greenfield and his wife Gloria; four great-grandchildren, Jack MacCord, Grace Avila, Javi Avila and Kenny Sepulveda; his caregiver, Gabby DaSilva; and his dog, Mia. He was predeceased by a sister, Judy Smith.
