Born in Azores, St. Michael Portugal a daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Botelho) Madeira she grew up there before coming to the United States at the age of 22.
Eduarda’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. She was a devoted mother, finding immense pride and joy in watching her son play baseball. Family gatherings were her delight, where she embraced the spirit of traditional Portuguese dancing at weddings and parties, engaged in friendly card games, and shared her culinary passion with all. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she showered on her family and friends. Her legacy of joy and togetherness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Paul Pereira and his wife Monica of New Bedford, Peter Pereira and his wife Jocelyn of Acushnet, Stephen Pereira of Acushnet, and Brian Pereira and his wife Kelly of Freetown; siblings Lourdes Gouveia, Jose Botelho, Urbano Madeira, Cecilia Madeira, and Paul Madeira; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 9 a.m. from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford follow by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., Freetown. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford. Visitation will be Monday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SEYAA Little League baseball association where Eduarda spent cherished moments watching games.
