Doris M. Lavoie

Doris was the daughter of the late Evariste and Leda (LeBlanc) Girouard.

Mrs. Lavoie worked as a stitcher in the local garment industry and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, New Bedford.

Survivors include a son, George Lavoie and his wife Cathy of Smithfield, RI; a granddaughter, Gail DeCecco and her husband Glen of Cranston, RI and a great-grandson, Lee Botsford, also of Cranston. Doris also leaves four sisters, Yvette Bralewski of Cohutta, Georgia, and New Bedford residents Flora Fernandes, Terry Pelletier and Irene Bielski. She is survived by two brothers; Normand Girouard of New Bedford and Ernest Girouard of Freetown. She was the sister of the late Herve and Oscar Girouard.

Her funeral will be held Monday, February 13 at 9:00 am beginning at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 559 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford.
