Donald R. Schell

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Leo and Dorothy (Miller) Schell, he was a life-long resident of the area.

Donald graduated from New Bedford High School in 1959. He owned and operated a welding and pipe fabrication business for many years before retiring.

He is survived by his children, James Schell and his wife Karen of East Freetown and Sherry Alves of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Katelyn Sullivan-Alves, Ashley Alves, Matthew, Jacob and Adam Schell; one great grandson, Noah Sullivan; former spouse, Dorothy Schell; siblings, Irene Lamarche, Robert, Jim and Richard Schell and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Donald James Schell and brother of the late Carol DeMello and William Schell.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation, Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Funeral and burial will be private. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
