Donald A. Hathaway

Donald A. Hathaway, age72 of Acushnet, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 in his residence with his loving family at his bedside. He was the husband of Cheryl (Castonguay) Hathaway for 49 years of marriage.

Born in a Acushnet, a son of the late Wendell and Genevieve (Galuska) Hathaway, Donald was lifelong resident of Acushnet. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1968. Donald later proudly served his country serving in the United States Navy. He was employed over the last 50 years as a painter in the auto collision industry.

Donald loved his family dearly especially his granddaughter Alexis, who was the love of his life. He was well liked by all who met him; he had a heart of gold. He enjoyed tending to his garden and working on his 1955 Chevy, which was passion.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Christopher Hathaway and his fiancé, Tammy Bettencourt and Andrea Souza and her husband James all of Acushnet; his granddaughter, Alexis Moreira and her companion Adam Thomas of Mashpee; two brothers, Robert Hathaway of NY and Richard Hathaway of MI; a sister, Lois McCarthy of MA and his father in-law, Roland Castonguay of Acushnet; and several brother and sister in-laws and nieces and nephews.
