Dennis L. DeMoranville, 77, of E. Freetown passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Charlton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Pinheiro) DeMoranville with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in E. Freetown, a son of Ernest L. and Doris E. (Pittsley) DeMoranville he was a lifelong resident.
Dennis worked as a farmer his entire life. He was a dairy farmer for 44 years until 1999 when he began raising beef cattle. He also sold firewood for 41 years right up until 2014 and he was making hay right up until 2016 which he had started doing at the age of 16.
Mr. DeMoranville was a great man and he will be missed by his entire family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven sons, Dennis, Maurice, Jefferson, Oscar DeMoranville all of E. Freetown, Wallace DeMoranville of Lakeville, Leon and Lincoln DeMoranville of E. Freetown; a sister, Fay DeMoranville of Fairhaven; a brother, Marcus DeMoranville of E. Freetown; 32 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Ernest DeMoranville and brother of the late Helene Pittsley.
His funeral will be Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Chace Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 pm. For online tribute/directions www.rock-funeralhome.com.
