Hi Uncle Dave, I know the other day was your birthday, and I've been thinking of you ever since. Not a day goes by since you passed that I don't think of you. You became such an important part of my life. You are truly an amazing man, an amazing dad, grampa, brother, uncle, and friend. I still have Charlie the bear you surprised me with, he sits on my rocking chair. I miss your goofy laugh, your love for candy, your kindness, and you presence in my life. I know we will be friends forever, you were and are truly the bestest uncle ever. Happy birthday Uncle David, I love and miss you. I Can't wait to be with you again in heaven. Take care of my Sargie for me!

Dave I still can't believe your gone,my heart hurts so bad for you and the ones that loved you the most..I was just sitting here reflecting on the memories we shared with you bringing over 23 tacos for all of us to eat lol The crazy things you would do!! I will never have a friend like I had in you,I love and miss you beyond words and my life will never be the same without you in it! Just want to say you are in my thoughts everyday. I am with our little girls as much I can be and always make sure that we bring up memories of when you used to go over to visit and were never empty handed. Sometimes you had so much to bring up to the house it would be falling out of your hands and we had to go out to help you. I know you would be so proud of Melissa, Chris, Leighton and Audrey. They are all so loving. Leighton and Audrey are growing so fast and have two totally different personalities, but they are both two of the most beautiful and loving little girls ever and I know you would think the same. Leighton will be starting kindergarten this September. I still can't believe it! Audrey will be in pre k. When I am with them I always think of you and how much you loved them and it helps me to be calm when they get crazy lol, so thank you for that! I can still see you and the way you looked at them when you were with them. The love you had for them warmed up the whole room. You are truly missed Dave and we will always keep you close in our hearts.

Dad, I miss you and think of you everyday. I love you so much, it's been so hard without you. Leighton still cry's and says she misses you all of the time. She sees your pictures all over the house but says she wants to see the "real grandpa". She says she knows you're in heaven but cry's because she says she'll "never see you again". I remind her of all the great times we had together like when you would build her castles from her Legos or go through a whole pack of gum because she wanted a new piece every time it lost it's flavor. I used to get mad at you because I thought you were indulging her and wished you set more boundaries. Now I look back and am glad she has that memory of you giving her anything she wanted. The love you had for both the girls was immeasurable. You lived and breathed for them and it's something I'll never forget. I wish I could be as loving, giving and selfless as you lived. You were the most kindest person I've ever know and I'm so proud to call you my dad. I miss you so much. I wish you were still here to spend your days with me and the girls. But most of all, I miss your unconditional love. No one could ever love me as much as you and I'm glad you gave me that. It still doesn't feel real that you're gone. Every night when I'm rocking Audrey to sleep, I have some quiet time to think of you. Tears roll down my face each night as I hug her and rub her back. I miss seeing her crawl onto your lap and lay her head on your chest. She always loved you and cuddling you. I hoped day to day would get easier without you but I'm still empty. I have so many reasons to be happy. I have a loving husband, two healthy girls, a nice home and a good job but I'm miserable most days because my heart is broken. I feel such a loss. I miss your smile walking into my house every morning, I miss our random lunches, I miss being with you, I miss your endless love. My day to day without you has not got easier. I can feel Leighton's broken heart as she cry's and longs for you. Seeing her so broken hearted destroys me. I remind her how much you love her and that you'll always be with her in heaven. I wish you could've had more time with all of us. I love you dad, I promise to write more but it's so hard. I tend to hold things in because truly feeling your loss is just too hard. Just know you're always in my heart and I think of you every second of everyday. I love you dad.

Dear Dave,
I miss you and think about you every day. I talk to our girls and remind them how much you love them. I'll be driving in my car with Leighton and Audrey buckled up safely into their car seats and listen to their conversations. Audrey will say to Leighton "Are you sad because you miss Grandpa?" "Yes", she replies "I miss him very much" "Me too" the little one says. We will never let them forget the wonderful, amazing Grandpa they had....and will always have your love on their hearts.

Dave, words cannot describe how much it meant to us that you would come to our house on a daily basis to spend time with us. You always had a smile on your face and gifts in your hands for the girls, looking for nothing in exchange. You were a tremendous father-in-law, father and grandfather. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. You loved us unconditionally and showed it everday. It is so unfair that such great people have to leave us too soon. From the time I met your daughter, the time I have spent with you has been full of good times and great memories. To my two girls, Leighton and Audrey, your grandfather loved you more than anything in this world. When he would see the two of you his face would light up with joy - you couldn't get the smile off his face. You both were his pride and joy and you could do no wrong in his eyes. I made a promise to you Dave that I would be the best father and husband to your grandaughters and daughter - I will not let you down. Dave you're a great man, friend and wonderful father-in-law. "I have to admit that I was a Daddy's girl. He told me he loved me better than anything else in the world. When I became a woman, he walked me down the isle and gave me away with a bittersweet smile. And when I gave birth he was there too. To greet my little one and say hello, I love you. It is sad that your Grandpa had to go to Heaven so soon to be with Jesus, but always know he loved you both dearly. Your Mommy and Daddy will continue to share memories of him with you, and even though he is gone he will never be forgotten.

Melissa, Chris, Leighton, Audrey and the entire Guilbeault family, I am so sorry for your loss. It pains me that such a great person was taken away from his family far too soon. It's extremely difficult for me to put into words what I felt about David. He was truly one-of-a-kind. His smile, laugh and laid back personality were contagious. One of my fondest memories of him was bringing home tons of amazingly awesome holiday decorations and promotional items from Shaw's like the Campbell's soup scooter. I thought Melissa was so incredibly lucky to have that! I remember Dave would need his rest during the day after working all night and that certainly didn't stop Melissa and I from blaring Madonna's greatest hits from the next room and dancing in the mirror. We must have woken him up several times but it's like it never phased him one bit. It was as if Melissa could do no wrong in his eyes! I'm sure he felt the same way about his two beautiful granddaughters. May his spirit live on in their hearts and although they are small, they will have an amazing family to help enhance their memories of their beloved grandfather. May you rest in peace Dave.

  I sit here thinking of what to say to the two sweet little girls that ment so much to there grandpa. He had a heart of gold that gave so much love not only to the two of you but to others. He was always ready to lend a hand to help others and especially his family. I remember being over and him telling me stories about mom when she was little and the light in his eyes with the excitement of granddaughters. Hoping you would be a little like your mom, to see the similarities. Always treasure the memories, stories and the love that your grandpa has for you. Hold them close to your hearts and know that he is looking down on you both. 
The memories I have of him will forever be in my heart and I look forward to sharing them with you both.

If every man was like you grandpa the world would be a perfect place.

Dear Leighton & Audrey,
  
     Your Grandfather was well known for being a hard worker, a giving man, and a wonderful father and grandfather, who would do anything for his family.  He truly was the kindest of souls.  His main hobby was finding an amazing sale or something on clearance, rushing to the store to buy whatever it was in bulk, just to give it away to anyone who was in need or just plain wanted the item.  He was always doing nice things.  
  
  He loved to put a smile on people's faces, but if you asked what put smile on his face, it was his girls.  His daughter Melissa, and his granddaughters Leighton and Audrey.  Growing up with your Mom, even as a young child I could see the joy on his face whether he was presenting her with a new toy, pushing her on the back of her bike, or watching her perform a new dance routine.  Nothing made him happier than his daughter.  As an adult, I got to see the same joy on his face doing the same things with his granddaughters.  Nothing made him happier than his girls.

   In fact, the memory with your  grandfather that I will always hold close to my heart is the time he found out that I was pregnant with your cousin Vera.  He said, "Hey Jess, I heard you're having a girl!  There is nothing better than a girl!"  He then turned to my Dad, his brother and said "Len a granddaughter!  Man, I'm telling ya there is nothing better than girls!" With that infectious smile that he gave, in that moment, I felt so lucky to be having a daughter.  A baby girl.

  Your grandfather was loved and will be truly missed.  Please know that any act of kindness you do is a little bit of your grandfather living through you...

Dear Leighton and Audrey, Words cannot describe how much your grandpa loved you. He was always there visiting every chance he had, even when he had just worked a long overnight shift. Nothing made him happier than to be with the two of you, and your mom and dad. His wishes were that we would always make sure that you would not forget the loving man that he was. Melissa your dad loved you so very much and was so proud of the woman and mother you've become.  We both got teary eyed last time we were together watching your childhood video played at your wedding together when I was there. Everyone loved your dad, my son's included, especially Josh he got to spend the most time with him. You can be sure and know you didn't let your dad down and he will forever be watching over you and his girls. Please give my love to everyone.
