

David W. Amaral, 74, of East Freetown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Care One in New Bedford. He was the beloved life-long companion and best friend of Barbara Araujo, with whom he shared over 30 plus years together.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Edward W. and Doris M. (Hebert) Amaral.
David was a graduate of Seekonk High School and a proud Veteran of the Army. He was a truck driver for many years, and loved bringing Barbara, who was the love of his life, with him on road trips, destination luncheons, and enjoying the many relationships they made with strangers along the way. He enjoyed auto-racing, tending to his cranberry bogs, and spending time with his family. David touched many hearts and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his loving Barbara, he is survived by his children, Kenneth Amaral and his wife Teresa of CA, and Elizabeth Amaral of S. Dartmouth, his blended family; Ron Araujo and his wife Jennifer of CT, John Araujo and his wife Laura of Billerica, MA, Steve Araujo and his wife Karen of Seekonk; Lillian Vozzolo and her husband Dean of CT, eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA 02745.
