Cynthia A. (Pollard) Galuska, 72, of Assonet, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital from complications of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. She was married to her husband and high school sweetheart, Walter "Wally" Galuska, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Priscilla (Bender) Pollard.
Born in New Bedford, she was a resident of Assonet for over 40 years. She attended New Bedford Public Schools, and the former Southeastern Massachusetts University.
She began her banking career at the former Durfee Attleboro Bank in Fall River. She also worked at Bank of Boston in Providence, Rhode Island, finishing her career as a Vice-President at Bristol County Savings Bank in Taunton.
Cynthia was the much-respected matriarch of the extended Pollard family loved by all.
Her loving, caring, and generous qualities were unmatched. She enjoyed her family and friends immensely and all the events that brought them together. Pool parties, birthdays, trips and holidays.
She especially loved and cherished her time with her nephew, Stephen, her best buddy, traveling with him to restaurants, casinos, shopping trips, and his favorite rock concerts. She remained friends with several of her co-workers and would meet often for lunch. She touched many hearts and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she is survived by her sisters, Joyce Patistea and her life partner Michael Langlois of New Bedford, and Betty Lord and her husband Gregory of Assonet. Also her three nephews, Stephen Patistea, Thomas Wolfe and his children Johnny and Tessa and Gregory Wolfe and his son Jaxson.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10:00AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 4:00-8:00PM. Burial in Acushnet Cemetery. For online tributes, visit www.rock-funeralhome.com.
