Cora A. (Devoll) Wilkinson, age 94 of New Bedford, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Sacred Heart Home, surrounded by her loving family. Mom was just 2 days away from her 95th birthday. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Wilkinson.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Pardon H. and Rosetta (Butts) Devoll, she was a lifelong New Bedford resident. She attended school in New Bedford, leaving at age 15 to care for her younger brother due to the sudden death of her own mother. Cora was a homemaker, who loved her family, knitting, word search books, watching her favorite television shows and enjoyed a good Patriot’s or Red Sox game. She made trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the occasional local casino to play those penny slot machines.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Medeiros and her husband Steven of E. Freetown; a daughter in-law, Julia Wilkinson of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Dennis J. Wilkinson II and his wife Kristen, Lynn Ostiguy and her husband Matthew, Sharon Bold, Todd Sylvia and his fiancé Sabrina Padilla and Jill Wilkinson-Ostiguy; eleven great-grandchildren, grammie’s sweet girls, Fiona and Lilah, also Mya, Rose, Grace, Stella, Celeste and Briella and her boys, Tyler, Miles and Jack; and several dear nieces and nephews. There is a heaven and it is a comfort knowing Mom will once again reunite with Dad, her son Dennis J. Wilkinson, her daughter Joyce L. Sylvia, her brother Pardon H. Devoll III and her grandson Scott C. Medeiros.
Arrangements were in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. To leave a note of condolence: www.rock-funeralhome.com
