Claudette L. “Memere” (Vezina) Weaver, 85, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Sippican Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved significant other of Paul Fredette.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of Joseph R. Vezina and Beatrice (McGee) Leduc, she was a lifelong New Bedford resident.
Claudette graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School. The most important part of her life was spent raising her children, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had a passion for gardening, loved spending time outdoors in the sunshine, and her annual visits to Florida. Her love of music earned her the nickname “Happy Feet” at Sippican. Claudette especially enjoyed hosting Christmas Eve and other holiday celebrations, always welcoming family and friends with an open door and a warm heart. She also treasured the lifelong friendships she built with the “Tuesday Night Ladies,” cherishing the memories they created together.
In addition to Paul, she is survived by her children, Michael Weaver and his wife Karen of Fairhaven, Catherine Cybulski and her husband Greg of Pittsfield, Daniel Weaver of Pittsfield, Michelle Drew and her husband Tim of Rochester, Matthew Weaver and his wife Tricia of Mattapoisett, Deborah Booth and her husband Greg of Sandwich; Darren Fredette and his wife Danyelle Caeti of Marion; sister-in-law, Carol Ouellette of Dartmouth; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Roland Vezina.
Her visitation will be Tuesday 4-7 p.m. in Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460 or www.alz.org.
