He was born “5/25/25” in New Bedford, Mass. the son of the late Joseph and Emily Costa. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, his sister Mercedes and his brothers Joseph and Leo.
He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during WWII. He was employed as a carpenter for Fred Kirby building many home in the area including the family home he built himself. He was a master furniture maker building items he gave as gifts to his family.
He is survived by his son Steven of Acushnet, Mass, his daughter Karen of Sutton, NH, his granddaughter Lauren and her husband Benjamin of Florida, his grandson Matthew and his wife Erin of California, and his grandson Michael and his wife Nichole of NH. He is also survived by two great granddaughters Bowie of California and Charlotte “Charlie” of NH. The family would like to thank Ashley Blanchard for her exceptional care and her love and devotion to Charlie.
Whenever Charlie enjoyed time spent with family he would say “this was a good day”. He was truly a gift.
“Do not mourn me because I am gone but rejoice because I was”.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 9:30 AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting Hours prior to his service from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
