She was retired from Acushnet Company (now Titleist) where she worked as a Senior Accountant. She was one of the few women working in this role at that time.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great Nana and friend and was always willing to give to others. During her retirement, she volunteered her time at area nursing homes and churches. Many things gave her happiness such as making her famous cookies, working on the computer, traveling and crocheting baby blankets. She also enjoyed listening to show tunes and going to the theater. Most recently, she was attending Social Day Program in Fairhaven where she was an active participant and enjoyed the activity and socialization with the staff and other members.
She was predeceased by her siblings Elizabeth Giroux, Joan F. Renahan, Henry Gagnon and her daughter in-law Linda (Opelski) Cloutier and son in-law Richard Alves.
Survivors include her son Richard Cloutier of Acushnet and his wife Laura with whom she has lived with for the past 10 years, daughter Ann Marie Couture of Somerset and her husband Roger, and son, William Cloutier of Vermont; Seven grandchildren Cherilyn Cloutier and her fiancée Neill Burgess, Brian and Jennifer Alves, Jennifer and Michael Jefferson, Jennifer and Erol Moe, Joseph Cloutier, Christina Santos and Paul Aranjo and Marisa Szczepan; Nine great grandchildren Ethan, Noah, and Justin Harris, Kelsey, Nathan and Owen Alves, Brandin Jefferson and Catherine and Collin Moe. She also has several nieces and nephews throughout the area.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11am to celebrate her life at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. Visitation will be held prior from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
