Brian K. Chainay, 41 of Lakeville, MA, passed away unexpectedly in Ripley, ME on August 25, 2023. Brian was born in New Bedford, MA and was the devoted husband of Sarah S. Chainay and loving father of Vivian N. Chainay. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and business owner of Chainay Kustoms.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his parents Kenneth Chainay and Paula Chainay (Alves); his brother, Daniel Chainay and his wife, Greta; his sister Allyssa Chainay and her fiancé, Derek Simms.
Living relatives include his Aunt Sandra Bucko and Uncle Paul, Aunt Jackie Chainay, Uncle Hank Alves and Aunt Darlene, Aunt Elaine Arruda and Uncle David. Cousins Steve Bucko, Matt Bucko, Kyle Alves, Sasha Alves and Zachary Arruda. His father and mother-in-law Michael & Christine Supczak, sister-in-law Valerie Supczak and his niece Violet Pimentel and nephew Roman Pimentel. Dog daddy to Mugs and late Bonnie.
Passed relatives include grandparents Armand & Grace Chainay, Henry & Pauline Alves and Aunt Sharon Byrd.
Along with relatives, Brian had extraordinary friends that he considered family. His friend and brother, Jay Medeiros as well as Roger Chouinard, David Lopes and Kenneth Tetrault with too many more too name. He also had his pinstriping family that brought such joy to his life and the Choppahead crew led by his great friend Josh “Truth.”
Brian was an old soul with such a bright light. Loving the Kustom Kulture, he was involved with many car and motorcycle shows. He was a true artist in any form imaginable. Whether it was pinstriping, sign painting, lettering, welding, fabricating, or just working on old cars, he was in his glory. He was adored by so many all over the United States and even made his way into magazines over-seas. His legacy was to pass on his painting knowledge and passion to his daughter, Viv.
When he wasn’t working, his favorite place was on his back deck with his wife and dog or by the fire listening to music. Also garage nights, pinstripe panel jams or just painting with Viv. He enjoyed any movie by Rob Zombie with favorites House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, Pulp Fiction, Death Proof, Smokey and the Bandit and Maximum Overdrive.
Brian valued donating his time and art work to several different organizations, benefits and anyone else in need. He recently spent time this year in York, PA at the Street Rod Nationals East from June 2 – 4th in which he created pieces and his art work was auctioned off to help support Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish in honor of Brian and the York Brush Brigade.
