Born in Quintela de Azurara Mangualde Portugal, a son of the late Augusto and Maria (Almeida) Costa he grew up there and came to America in 1980.
Tony worked as a truck driver for Goodrich Lumber. In his spare time, he loved camping, fishing, and most importantly spending time with his children and beloved grandchildren. Mr. Costa was notoriously known for being able to fix anything. He would tinker with anything that wasn’t working and before long he had it up and running. Tony also enjoyed dancing, playing a drum and a cavaquinho for many years with the SS Sacremento.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Anthony Costa and his wife Priscilla of New Bedford and Christopher Joseph Costa of New Bedford; a grandson who was the light of his life, Andrew and his new born granddaughter, Evelyn; a sister, Ana Blanchette and her husband Gary of Saunderstown; two brothers, Joe Costa and his wife Debra of New Bedford and Celestino Costa and his wife Kim of Dartmouth; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His funeral will be Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 8 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford.
