Alene R. "Lee" Borges

Alene R. “Lee” (Hillman) Borges, age 80, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 15, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Manuel Borges, Jr. to whom she has been married for the past 63 years.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Roderick and Eva (Lopes) Hillman, she was a longtime resident of the city.

Lee worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Tabor Nursing Home for twenty years and was an amazing wife and mother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, completing crossword puzzles, reading, and playing bingo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Brian Borges and two daughters Diana Borges and Melody Barnes all of New Bedford, one brother, Randall Hillman of St. Louis, MO, five grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire Britto and Janet DeMello.
