Ted Mason died peacefully Friday, June 2 at Baptist Floyd Hospital, New Albany, Indiana. Ted was born in Louisville, Kentucky, at Jewish Hospital on July 16, 1942, to Patsy and Clayburn Mason. He spent most of his early years in Bowling Green. He graduated from Warren Central High School and Western Kentucky University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity.
He started teaching in Jefferson County at Fairdale High School in 1971, where he was an assistant football coach. He later taught and served as assistant coach at Durrett, Ballard, Waggener, and Male High School.
In addition to football, Ted loved fishing and hunting. He was a long-time member of Quail Unlimited, where he made many special friends. He also enjoyed traveling, gambling, and socializing.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeff. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Sandy Lynn Mason, sons, Bo Mason (Victoria) and Andy Mason (Kim). He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Mason (Sandy) and Eddie Hines. Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Julie, Sylvia, Nyla, and Cory.
The family especially appreciates the compassionate care Ted received at the University of Louisville and Baptist Floyd hospitals.

Visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Service 2776 Charlestown Road in New Albany, Wednesday, June 7 from 3:00 to 8:00. Funeral services will be at Kraft Funeral Service on Thursday, June 8 at 11:00.
