William H. "Bill" Phillips, 87 years of age, died Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Providence Retirement Home. He was born January 29, 1931 in Mercer County Kentucky to the late James E. and Verlie B. (Rieley) Phillips and was a retired employee of General Electric Company in Louisville, Kentucky. Bill was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a former resident of Clarksville, IN., and former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville and current member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany. He was an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Society for over some 25 years and life member of Disabled American Veterans. Bill loved his dogs, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl E. Hunter and siblings, James Phillips, Pauline Burke Sadie Simpson, Joyce Morris, and Marvin Phillips.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary M. (Gesenhues) Phillips; two grandchildren, Josephine and Jillian Kaufman; and brother, Allen Phillips. Also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday February 12, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
