Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1947, Bill’s family moved to Terre Haute, Indiana where he grew up and graduated from Wiley High School, Class of ’65. He then attended Indiana University where he graduated as a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. In Bloomington, he met and later married the love of his life, Jan Amon. He was a loving husband for 52 years.
After Indiana University, Bill attended and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law. He practices for a while in Louisville before being called back to Indiana. Bill became a founding member of Lorch, Moyer, Gesenhues, and Bitzegaio in New Albany, Indiana, now Lorch, Naville, and Ward, where he practiced until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; children, Ann Allen (Todd) of Georgetown, Indiana, and Clare Banet (Josh), of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, as well as his grandchildren Harrison Moyer, Aidan Allen, William Banet, and Ryan Allen; brother Tim Moyer of Knoxville, Tennessee, sisters-in-law Jane "Pab" Amon (Walter Postell) of San Francisco, California, Jeri Forman of Nottawa, Michigan, and Linda Moyer of Seattle, Washington; his lifelong friend William Hamilton of Terre Haute, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Harriett Moyer and his brother, Michael Moyer.
Bill lived his life loving his family and his friends and passed with great memories. He was straightforward, fair, and always a gentleman. Grief is the price you pay for love, and the Moyer family’s grief is profound.
Mar, Bill, Dad, Buc, Billy Bob, Unca Buc- you will be missed by us all. Don’t cry because it’s over, but smile because it happened. We love you very much.
Visitation will be 2pm-8pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later time, post-COVID.
