Wendell Lee Payton

Wendell Lee Payton, 81 years of age, passed away Wednesday September 1, 2021 in New Albany. He was born on February 29, 1940 in Springlick, Kentucky to the late Edward and Naytella Payton. Wendell was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, and a retired machinist from Colgate Palmolive. He was a member of St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church and the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda; sons, Rodney Payton (Jackie) and Bryan Payton (Nicole); sister, Betty Overton; granddaughters, Ashley, Sarah, and Kayla Payton; brother-in-law, Garland "Sonny" White; sister-in-law, Judi White; and a niece Elizabeth White.

Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Kraft Funeral Chapel with burial and military honors to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
