Wava C. Schumacher

Wava C. Schumacher, age 98, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Wava was born in Rockport, Indiana on February 10th, 1926 to the late Russell and Edna Mae (Milner) Dooley. Wava was a charter member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at the Providence Home, the New Albany Library, and the Speed Museum.

Wava was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Paul A. Schumacher; her son, Tony Schumacher; her brother, Gordon Dooley; and her sister, Clayta Hacker.

Wava is survived by her daughter, Paula (John)Paugh; her son, Gerard "Jerry" (Cary) Schumacher; her grandchildren, Tony (Theresa) Rainbolt, Ryan (Jennifer) Rainbolt, Kristan Rainbolt, and Andrew (Melissa) Duke; her great grandchildren, Skyler Rainbolt and Brayden Duke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A catholic memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana on Tuesday, Oct 8th, 2024 at 11:00am. A short gathering will begin at 10:30am. Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at Saint Mary's Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
