Samuel M. Swindell, Jr. of Scottsburg, Indiana passed on July 3, 2022. He was born in the small town of Oriental, in the Outerbanks of North Carolina on April 20, 1929, to the late Samuel Swindell Sr. and Marie (Philpot) Swindell. Sam was married to the love of his life, the late Cora (Taylor) Swindell for 37 years. He served his country proudly as a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
In his spare time, Sam was an avid reader. He was a faithful member of Highland Park First Baptist Church.
Sam leaves behind his children, Marilyn Hood (Sidney), Sandi Saling, Debbie Feeler (Phil), and Becky Watts (JB); four grandchildren, Brad Miller, Brittany Miller, Levon Dischinger, and Sybby Hood-Dischinger; as well as one brother, Jim Swindell (Alice).
He is preceded in death by his son, Samuel Swindell Jr.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.
Burial will take place following the service at Louisville Memorial Gardens, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky.
