Rose A. Lori Bowman, 90 years of age died Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born May 31, 1923 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Michael E. and Genevieve (Schulte) Lori. Rose was the widow of John E. Bowman and a 60 year long member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was a homemaker as well as retired from the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, IN. Rose was a lover of all children. She read a collection of children’s books to three generations of children. She was most at home sitting at the head of the kitchen table with a room full of grandkids playing board games and drinking coffee. She saw beauty in everyday life, and especially enjoyed teaching grand and great grandchildren how to draw and paint. She loved cooking and baking, and she made sure that everyone got a cake on their birthday. She took pride in her front and back yard gardens, every Spring was greeted with irises and tulips. She only watched two channels, PBS and MSNBC. We all were so lucky to have her. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Marie Pirtle, Melvin Lori, and Irma Eaton. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, granddaughter Leigh Ann Bowman, Bonnie Justice, and Jennifer Osborne.
Survivors include her five children; John Bowman Sr. and wife Laverne, Jim Bowman, David Bowman and wife Lou Ann, Nancy Phipps and husband Rick, Chris Bowman and wife Pam; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Jahn and Jesse Skelton; brother, Frank Lori and wife Margaret; brother-in-law, Fred Eaton
Reception of family and friends will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am Friday November 15th, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
