Ronald Ray Freiberger

Ronald Ray Freiberger, 66 years of age died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Norton Hospital in Louisville following a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born March 26, 1951 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Vincent and Betty Freiberger. Ron was a 1969 graduate of New Albany High School, served for 7 years in the United States Army Reserves, and retired from Ford Motor Company, working at both the Fern Valley Road and Chamberlain Lane Assembly Plants. Ron had a beautiful voice and his love of singing led him to learn to play guitar at an early age. A teenager of the 60’s, Ron loved classic rock and roll and he made many friends who he played music with throughout his life. He was a free bird who loved dirt bikes and motorcycles. He grinned from ear-to-ear every time he heard the roar of his Harley Davidson. After retirement in 1999, Ronnie loved gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He had an amazing green thumb. Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Catt) Freiberger; son, Andy Freiberger (Heather); step-daughters Elizabeth Iredale (James), Lara Hammond; beloved grandchildren Aydan, Lucas, Avarie, and Ellie; siblings Larry Procter (Ruth), Michael Freiberger, Eddie Freiberger (Debbie), Debbie Thompson (Darrell), and Steve Freiberger. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday at funeral home.
