My fondest memories of Pop & Memaw are of Christmas get-togetherness where we would all take our kids and squeeze over 15 Kids & adults in their living room and begin opening presents.  After about 20 minutes, you could hardly make out where the kids or their presents were. The living room was so full of laughter, wrapping paper and good old-fashioned JOY! What great holidays!

Thank you for being a role model for me. I am constantly reminded of the joys of visiting you on Mondays and Thursdays while I was in school, and all the dinners and visiting between school and work.

My greatest memory of Poppi is his joy and sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face when it came to family and friends. I don't think there was a single day I saw him that I didn't get to experience his humor or his classic jokes, even on the worst days. He had a great way of sharing laughter and making everything seem at ease. You will be missed Poppi. I hope you're smiling down on us and still telling jokes up in heaven. Love you.

I had the opportunity of working 11 years with Poppy. I learned a lot from him and gained valuable work ethic. He always said you never turn down work, especially if you didn't know how to do it. You say "yes I can" and then you do it. 

We had lots of adventures to and from work, these are some of the highlights: 
• Poppy was afraid of the Kennedy bridge, he renamed it Ol' Rusty, and we hurried across it every day after work.
• We had a close encounter with the neighbors tree on Coes lane, we just made it underneath it and then it fell. We thought it was a tire blowout at first, but later found that the neighbors tree had fallen across the street.
• One morning we listened to the radio and it spoke of a couple semi trucks in the area that became uncoupled and we looked to our right and jokingly said that the semi coming up the ramp was going to break and then it did.
• We've seen a lot of road rage on the way to and from work, the funniest incident was a lady in a blue truck who was chasing us for cutting her off. Poppy was nervous, as she was waving her fists at us, but as she pulled along side of us and there was a smile on her face, she turned out to be Susie.

I am thankful for having the opportunity of really getting to know and have fun with my grandfather, and I hope Poppy, that you get to be happy for ever after with Meemaw and I hope to see you again one day.

Christmas mornings at Pop's house before we moved them due to size, were always so delightful.  All of the grandkids would be opening their presents from Pop & Memaw on the floor.  After 10 minutes, we litterally would lose site of a child or 2 in all the wrapping material & bows.  There would be Amy, Bobby, Erica, Leslie, Michael, Kyle, Alan, & Jenny frantically tearing into their presents unaware they were slowly drowning in a sea of wrapping paper and happiness!  Susan M
