Nina M. Lewis

Nina was born to Alton and Ruby Roach Estes on April 27, 1929, in Breeding, Kentucky. Growing up on a family farm, Nina always had an interest in and loved cooking, gardening, and canning. She married Elliott Lewis Jr. from Chance, Kentucky, at the age of 18. They met at a church social when Nina was 12 and Elliott was 15 and began their lifelong courtship together.

They moved to Southern Indiana after getting married and eventually settled in Sellersburg in 1959, both becoming charter members of the First Baptist Church of Sellersburg. Nina always delighted in making a memorable home for her family, raising three children along the way. Nina also enjoyed playing cards, board games, working puzzles and league bowling at the Silver Creek Lanes in her younger days. She also worked for the Charlestown Army Ammunition Plant to support our troops during the Vietnam War.

Beside her husband, Elliott, Nina is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Yvonne Anderson (Steve).

She is survived by two sons, David Lewis (Betsy) of Powhatan, Virginia, and Steve Lewis (Kim) of Sellersburg, Indiana. Nina also has nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for Nina will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Her funeral service will be Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150 with burial in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
